| |
| 1) Where can I obtain World of Warcraft (WoW)? |
Purchase it from a store or obtain it from a friend. World of Warcraft no longer provides a free download of the client. |
| |
| 2) How do I connect to Tru-WoW? |
1. ) First you need to create an account here Make sure you select either "normal" or "burning crusade" gametype depending on what you have installed.
2. ) NOTE: IF YOU ALREADY HAVE WoW VERSION 2.4 OR HIGHER, SKIP TO STEP 3!
Update your WoW Client to 2.1.3 THEN install Burning Crusade. Then, you must update your WoW to version to 2.4. You can download the lasted WoW patches from here.
2. ) Go to your WoW Folder and edit your realmlist.wtf file, it should be located at:
Windows - (C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/)
Macintosh - (/World of Warcraft/ )
If not, you have chosen a different location for your WoW installation, and you must locate it yourself.
Once you have found the realmlist.wtf file, open it, with a text editor, and copy and paste the following code over the realmlist.wtf contents: 'set realmlist truwowonline.com'
3. ) Now all you need to do is open WoW and login with the username and password you used to set up your account earlier. |
| |
| 3) What version of WoW must I have? |
Currently, we support versions 2.4.3 ONLY |
| |
| 4) When will you support WotLK or 3.0.x? |
We will only support it after it has undergone extensive testing. 3.0.x is a MAJOR upgrade, and all upgrades of that magnitude bring a large amount of bugs and stability issues. At the minute emulated verisions of 3.0.x are primitive at best. |
| |
| 5) What are the server rates? |
We are a strictly Blizzlike realm, 1x Rates, 1x Drops etc... |
| |
| 6) Do you have custom stuff? |
No we don't; again, we are blizzlike, so no custom items/quests etc... |
| |
| 7) Do you do events? |
Yes, our GM's organize events, and there is an event section in the forums that shows you what it coming up. |
| |
| 8) Where can I find WoW addons? |
A simple google search can bring up many different sites. A good one to try is Curse. |
| |
| 9) Why aren't my addons working? |
Go to your Character selection screen and click on the "addons" button in the bottom left corner of your screen. On the next page there will be a checkbox to load out of date addons. This must be checked for addons to work. |
| |
| 10) I want to be a Blood Elf/Draenei and they aren't showing up in char creation. Why? |
This means one of two things:
1. ) either you don't have Burning Crusade installed properly, or your account type is wrong. If BC is installed correctly, your login screen will show a green portal. If you aren't seeing that screen, then something has gone wrong when you were installing Burning Crusade.
2. ) If you are seeing that screen, then it means your account type is wrong. Please go to the minimanager at http://www.truwowonline.com to change your account details. |
| |
| 11) Help I am physically stuck! |
Please click on the red question mark on your menu bar, and at the top of the screen there is a button that says "stuck?" Click on that button, and follow the instructions, this will return you to the place that your hearthstone is set. |
| |
| 12) How do I get help ingame? |
If you need help ingame, first check Wowhead to check that everything in relation to the "bug" is correct.
If something still doesn't appear to be working, please open a ticket and a GM will come and help you as soon as they can. We have GM's on around the clock, and we always try to answer tickets shortly after they come in.
In addition to submitting a ticket, please post the bug on the forums in the bug tracker section. Most of the fixes that GM's do are temporary, and only for that character; to fix the actual problem, the developers need to know about the bug. |
| |
| 13) What do GM's do? |
GM's are there to help you with issues such bugged quests, missing npc's, and bugged trainers. |
| |
| 14) How do I make a ticket? |
When in game type in “/gm” and the “Customer Service” window will pop up, click on the “Issues a GM can assist with” button. Next, select the category which corresponds with your problem. Click on the “Report (your category) Issue” button. Type (in detail) exactly what problem you are having. Please use proper grammar and spelling, it makes the ticket process easier on GM’s. Finally, click “Submit” and you have successfully made a ticket. Depending on how many tickets the GM have it could take some time, so remain patient. |
| |
| 15) Is it possible for me to become a GM for TruWoW? |
Yes! If you’re an active member of the community and you think you’ve got what it takes to be a GM, head over into our Staff Application section and apply. Remember to read up on the
Staff Application Guidelines before you apply. |
| |
| 16) How often does the staff update the server? |
We update the core of server after it has been tested by us and deemed stable. We update the database with fixes almost every day. We have a team of active devs who are always working to try and make gameplay as smooth as possible |
| |
| 17) Where can I find information about how to play/quests/items/etc? |
There are a number of good websites for WoW information. www.thottbot.com, www.wowhead.com and wow.allakhazam.com are extremely helpful for learning about quests/items/mobs ect. One other crucial site for any wow player is www.wowwiki.com . On Wow Wiki you can find out virtually any information about wow that you would ever need to know. |
| |
| 18) Where can I find a list of quests that are broken? |
In the Bug Tracker. If you find the quest that you are doing is bugged and it’s not listed in the tracker, please make a new post about it. |
| |
| 19) Where can I find a list of known bugs? |
In the Bug Tracker. This is the most comprehensive list of bugs available for our server. If you find a bug and it’s not listed in the tracker, please don’t hesitate to add it in. |
| |
| 20) Where is the server located? |
Washington D.C - United States |
| |
| 21) Does TruWoW backup their data? |
We bring the server down for 10 mins each day to do a full backup. This way we are unlikely to get corruption do to the backup occurring whilst the database is being written to/read from |
| |
| 22) What emulator/databse do you use? |
We currently use the Trinity emulator, which is basically customized mangos. The database is TrinityDB (formerly UDB) to which we apply our own patches. |
| |
| 23) Are all the instances fully scripted and working? |
Instances are scripted to a great degree. Some Heroics and the endgame raids of Sunwell Plateau and Black Temple are not scripted as well as I would like, and as such I have closed them until they are working properly. |
| |
| 24) Do the mobs cast spells? |
Most (90%+ at a guess) cast spells if they are supposed to. If you find one that doesn't and should, please feel free to report it to us and we will fix it |
| |
| 25) Whats your server load and bandwidth(Upload)? |
We run on a 1000MBps line. We are situated in Washington, we chose there as this is where most of the international lines enter the US - thus cutting down latency from Europe |
